Safety Equipment that must be carried: (Table One - Personal Lifesaving Appliances)
These tables do not have to be memorized for the test, but you must carry the specified equipment onboard.

These Tables were developed from information gleaned from the Safe Boating Guide (2009);
Your Vessels' Requirements may change; please refer to the most recent edition, published by Transport Canada.
Small Vessel Regulations: Summary of Equipment that must be carried (according to vessel length).  These requirements apply to Pleasure Craft, owned, borrowed or rented, including airboats, air-cushion vehicles (hovercraft) & wing in ground effect vessels.
The Equipment Listed is the minimum that must be carried onboard.     For it to Save Lives . . .

  • It must be Readily Accessible,
  • In must be Maintained, so it works when you need it!  (fully charged batteries in lamps, spare bulbs)
*  A re-boarding device may not be part of the vessels propulsion unit.

Practise man-overboard drills.  Buoyant heaving-lines must be protected from the damaging rays of the sun when not in use.  They must be of one continuous length, not short pieces - joined together
