Citizenry groups with safety concerns, willing to cover the costs of installing & maintaining signage, may apply to have a boating restriction established in their local waters. Speed, Power, Types of Watercraft, and Activities may be controlled or limited. Offenders face Administrative Monetary Penalties.
There are five types of shapes for the restriction signs.
The frame colour is international orange. Signs with a section with a green border indicate that a special condition applies to the restriction (for example, the day/time an activity is allowed). The symbol on the sign indicates the type of restriction which applies. If the sign is arrow-shaped, the restriction applies in the direction pointed by the arrow.
Pleasure Craft Operators must watch for, understand, and obey these signs. (These symbols may be displayed on Control Buoys, or Posted on the shoreline)
